Spanish I is intended for students who have not studied a foreign language previosly or who have not received the credit necessary from the middle school. At this level, we will begin todevelop the components of the language: speaking, listening, reading, writing and culture. Students must have at least one foreign language credit to graduate high school. A text book is required for use everyday in class and for homework.
Spanish II is intended for first year high school students who have had previous Spanish language instruction in the middle school. We will be continuing to develop student speaking, listening, reading, writing. Students will engage in communication activities that encourage them to use new vocabulary creatively. Gramar points will also have a role in communication development. Cultural awareness will be increased as students have the opportunity to learn cultural customs and practices that are different from their own.  A text book is required for use everyday in class and for homework.
Spanish III is a continuing course for students who have successfully completed levels I and II and are ready to further develop the four basic skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing). There will be emphasis on the development of active vocabulary and the ability to communicate. Studetns will take the New York State Regents exam in June. A textbook will be used for in class activities only.
