I love speaking and teaching Spanish. I have come to realize that my passion for teaching is reflected on my students’ engagement. Their participation and attitude in my classroom shows an enthusiasm equal to my own. I have a positive and supportive rapport with my students. The atmosphere in my classroom is enjoyable as well as challenging and rewarding.
I want my students to realize that they are in a position to change the world. Learning a language is extremely important now, in our diverse and interactive global community. Being able to speak another language can help our students appreciate other cultures and be more tolerant when interacting with people that are different from themselves. The New York State standards for Languages Other Than English (LOTE), provides a guideline for the Spanish curriculum, stating that students need to be exposed to the culture and be able to communicate in the target language. My students work on studying the Spanish culture from the aspect of the current events that are happening in our world today.
